Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 2)Patients posted for elective total abdominal hysterectomy through P fannensteil incision with or without bilateral salpingo-oopherectomy. 3)BMI between 18-30kg/metersquare. 4)ASA grade 1 -2.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patient refusal. Known allergy to the drug used in the study. Pre-existing neuropathy and coagulopathy. Local site infection. Hepatic, renal or cardiorespiratory failure ASA greater than or equal to 3. BMI greater than or equal to 3. History of addiction to drugs or alcohol. Contraindication to use of NSAIDs and local anaesthetics

To compare the efficacy and duration of Transversus abdominis plane block versus epidural analagesia for postoperative analgesia in patients undergoing total abdominal hysterectomy.Timepoint: Before block , just immediately after block then every 15mins till one hour ,then every hour till 4hours and then every 3 hourly till 24 hours post surgery	—
