Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with a diagnosis of fluid collections in the body, diagnosed on ultrasound, requiring image guided percutaneous drainage with an indwelling catheter, who have given written informed consent for the same

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Fluid collections not amenable for safe drainage percutaneously, patients less than 18 years of age, size of collection less than 4 cm in least dimension, patients with uncorrectable coagulopathy, shock, cardiac failure, respiratory failure, sepsis, Infection at the site of entry, anesthetic allergy, Pregnant women

1. To determine the difference in time taken for completion of procedure between direct puncture trocar technique and modified seldinger technique 2. To determine the differences between direct puncture trocar technique and modified seldinger technique in clinical success outcome in terms of improvement of the clinical status of the patient for which the drainage procedure was indicated. 3. To determine the cross over rates among the two techniques that is proportion of patients who required switchover to modified seldinger technique after being randomized to direct puncture trocar technique and vice versa Timepoint: 2 weeks
