Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: American Society of Anaesthesiology Physical status I/II. Patients of either gender, aged 18-60 years. BMI less than 30 kilogram per meter square. Scheduled for elective laparoscopic abdominal Surgeries.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Known intolerance to carbohydrate solutions. Patients unwilling to participate. Pregnancy. Diabetes. Subjects with decreased glucose tolerance. On medications influencing glucose tolerance. Gastric regurgitation. History of motion sickness.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Thirst, Hunger and Satiety, Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting and Fatigue.Timepoint: 0 2 6 8 12 24 and 48 hours.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Intraoperative blood glucose levels after induction.Timepoint: 1 hourly during surgery.
