Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Late adolescent and young adult patients aged 18-27 years Diagnosis of maxillary transverse deficiency grater than 2 mm, assessed clinically and confirmed using transverse measurements at WALA ridge points Indication for non-surgical mini-screw assisted skeletal maxillary expansion Treatment planned using MSE II appliance supported by four palatal mini-implants Skeletally mature patients not indicated for surgically assisted maxillary expansion Willingness to undergo CBCT imaging as part of routine diagnostic and post-expansion evaluation Provision of written informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with craniofacial syndromes or congenital craniofacial anomalies History of previous orthodontic maxillary expansion or orthognathic surgery Patients indicated for surgically assisted rapid palatal expansion (SARPE) Presence of active periodontal disease or compromised periodontal support Systemic conditions or medications affecting bone metabolism Patients unwilling to undergo CBCT imaging or to comply with the activation protocol Failure or loss of mini-implant anchorage during the course of expansion

1.To evaluate and compare the transverse skeletal changes (maxilla, palatal bone, zygomatic bone, sphenoid region) produced by slow FCPC-MASPE and rapid MARPE using CBCT 2.To assess and compare the sutural responses including mid-palatal, zygomaticomaxillary, zygomaticotemporal, and pterygopalatine sutures between both expansion protocols. 3.To determine the extent of pterygoid process deformation resulting from slow vs. rapid skeletal expansion protocols. Timepoint: 1st CBCT- Pre Expansion 2nd CBCT- 3 months post expansion

4. To compare the pattern & magnitude of mid-palatal suture opening (V-shaped vs pyramidal; anterior vs posterior displacement).(4) 5. To compare the dental changes (inter-canine & inter-molar distances at apex & cusp levels) between the two protocols.(3) 6. To calculate & compare the mechanical efficiency (M.O.R.E. factor) of slow FCPC-MASPE vs rapid MARPE.(1) 7. To assess the overall safety & complication profile of the two activation protocols, with specific focus on cranial stress, sutural strain, & potential side effects. Timepoint: 1st CBCT- Pre Expansion 2nd CBCT- 3 months post expansion
