Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.All patients irrespective of gender and age in whom either jackson pratt or gravity based drains will be placed who are undergoing elective or emergency open abdominal surgeries. 2.Patients providing informed consent for participation and follow up

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Pregnant females. 2.Post operative mortality after abdominal surgeries before removal of drain. 3.Patient having systemic illness leading to ascites.
