Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: All patients who have been on mechanical ventilation for more than 48 hours and planned for Spontaneous breathing trial are to be enrolled if they satisfy the following criteria removal or improvement of the primary disease that led to respiratory compromise and spontaneous breathing and intact central respiratory drive and intact cough reflex and steady hemodynamic state and muscle relaxant not used in 24 h and dosage of sedative and analgesic drugs not increasing and stable electrolyte state and appropriate gas exchange with positive end-expiratory pressure less than or equal to 5 cmH2O and fraction of inhaled oxygen concentration less than or equal to 0.5
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: history of diaphragm paralysis or known congenital heart lung or pleural malformation or cervical spine injury or neuromuscular diseases or major diaphragm procedure
