Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Blood samples for presepsin and procalcitonin were drawn within 24 hours of each other from the time of confirmation or within 24 hours of HAP or VAP
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Pregnant and lactating women Severe chronic conditions like terminal cancer and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome might confound the results or influence mortality independently of sepsis Mortality occurring after the follow-up period of 30 days Patients or legal representatives who refuse to participate in the study
