Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients aged 18 years and above 2. Diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) as per GOLD 2025 guidelines 3. Stable COPD patients (no exacerbation for at least 4 weeks prior to inclusion) 4. Includes COPD A patients 5. Healthy control group consisting of volunteers of similar age and gender distribution 6. Controls with no history of respiratory disease or any chronic systemic illness

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Other lung diseases such as Bronchial asthma, Interstitial lung disease and Lung cancer 2. Occupational lung diseases or active infections 3. Patients who do not give consent for the study

a) To evaluate the association between VEGF gene polymorphisms in the promoter region and the susceptibility to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). b) To determine the distribution of VEGF genotypes and allelic frequencies among COPD patients and healthy controls. c) To assess whether specific VEGF promoter polymorphisms influence the severity of COPD.Timepoint: Time period - 18 months
