Health Condition 1: E119- Type 2 diabetes mellitus without complications

Interventions

Intervention1: Protein supplementation, Resistance exercise, Personalised diet plan: Total duration of intervention - 3months, route of administration- oral intake and frequency - 30g of protein suppl
management guidance is provided. Monthly hospital visits (Day 30, 60, 90) include free supplement refills. Experimental group will be given a logbook to manintain supplement intake, exercise, and diet

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Individuals with HbA1c levels greater than or equal to 6.5 percent and a body mass index greater than or equal to 23 kilograms per meter squared will be eligible to participate. Participants who have been on oral hypoglycemic drugs for the past six months will be included. All participants will be recruited from the General Medicine outpatient department in Udupi and Manipal.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Participants with a known history of renal, hepatic, or musculoskeletal disorders will be excluded from the study. Those currently undergoing insulin therapy or diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus will not be included. Pregnant or lactating women, individuals with known allergies or intolerance to protein supplements, and those unable or unwilling to adhere to the prescribed exercise regimen, protein supplementation, and dietary plan will also be excluded.

MeasureTime frame
To assess the impact of protein supplementation and resistance exercise on glycemic control, muscle strength function, and body composition. Timepoint: 3 months intervention period HbA1c test - on day 0 and day 90 FBG, 3-day 24 hour diet recall, body composition (BIA), handgrip strength (dynamometer), blood pressure- on day 0, day 30, day 60 and day 90. Day 0 (Baseline Intervention), Day 30 (Follow-up Intervention), Day 60 (Midpoint Assessment), Day 90 (Post-Intervention Assessment).
