Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients aged between 18 and 65 years, belonging to American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I or II, and undergoing elective lumbar spine surgery

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: patient refusal, known allergy to local anesthetics, bleeding disorders, ASA grade III and above, and any existing neurological deficits.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
the duration of postoperative analgesia, defined as the time from the administration of the erector spinae plane (ESP) block to the first request for rescue analgesia. Additionally, total fentanyl consumption during the postoperative period and intraoperative desflurane usage, measured in millilitres per hour, were recordedTimepoint: every five minutes during surgery and post-operatively every hour.

MeasureTime frame
intraoperative and postoperative hemodynamic variables, pain scores assessed using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), sedation levels measured by the Ramsay Sedation Scale,Timepoint: every five minutes during surgery and post-operatively every hour.
