Interventions

Intervention1: TOPICAL 5 % TRANEXAMIC ACID GEL WITH MICRONEEDLING: Microneedling performed using dermapen followed by topical application of 5 % tranexamic acid daily at night for treatment of melasma

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients aged 18-60 years with facial melasma of more than or equal to 3 months duration 2. Follow up regularly 3. Not currently on any systemic or procedural melasma treatment in past 3 months

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Pregnancy or lactation 2. History of keloid or hypertrophic scar 3. Active skin infections 4. Photosensitizing medication use 5. Use of oral tranexamic acid 6. History of bleeding disorder 7. Immunocompromised patients 8. Allergy to TXA

MeasureTime frame
1. Improvement in mMASI score 2. Dermoscopy melasma score 3. Recurrence rate after treatment Timepoint: FROM 0 TO 14 WEEKS

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1.Patient satisfaction score on five-point Likert scale. 2. Side effects- Erythema, pain, PIH, dryness. 3.Procedure tolerance and downtime.Timepoint: 0 to 14 weeks
