Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Included in the study if more than or equal to 2 of the following SIRS criteria are met 1. Temperature above 38 degree celsius or below 36 degree celsius 2. Heart rate greater than 90 beats per minute 3. Respiratory rate over 20 breaths per minute or PaCO2 level below 32 mmHg 4. White blood counts greater than 12000 per microlitre or less than 4000 per microlitre or more than 10 percentage immature band forms

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients already on vasopressor support 2.Patients already in septic shock at the time of ICU admission 3.Refusal of consent 4.Parturient females
