Interventions

Intervention1: Incentive spirometry: 10 repetitions, every 2 hours during waking hours to improve the pulmonary function. Control Intervention1: standard care: breath holding and coughing technique

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. PATIENT WITH UNILATERAL INTERCOASTAL DRAINAGE TUBES INSERTED FOR PLEURAL EFFUSION 2. HEMODYNAMICALLY STABLE PATIENTS 3. PARTICIPANTS WHO ARE WILLING TO PARTICIPATE IN THE STUDY AND PROVIDE INFORMED CONSENT

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with neuromuscular diseases or cognitive impairments. 2. Patients with pre-existing chronic lung diseases like COPD, pulmonary fibrosis, emphysema, restrictive Lung disease. 3. Uncooperative or critically ill patients on ventilator support. 4. Diaphragm paralysis 5. Uncontrolled hypertension 6. Severe chest pain
