Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA physical status I II Patients undergoing elective orthopaedic surgeries under spinal anaesthesia

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients on alpha adrenergic receptor blockers. Local sepsis at the site of proposed puncture. Patient with known hypersensitivity to study drug. Patients being treated with anticoagulants, CNS active drugs. Patients suffering from bleeding diathesis or coagulation disorders. Spinal deformity or tuberculosis spine Increased intracranial pressure. Patients with some psychiatric history. Patients with neurological disease with motor and sensory deficit. Diabetic patients Surgeries which involve gut handling

qualitative and quantitative outcome measurement of ERASTimepoint: pre operatively, 2 hours and 4 hours post drink, and 24 hours post drink
