Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Trauma patients aged 18 years to 65 years admitted to the intensive care unit who require elective percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy for anticipated prolonged mechanical ventilation or airway protection. Patients should be hemodynamically stable and written informed consent must be obtained from the patient or legally authorized representative.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Patients younger than 18 years or older than 65 years, those requiring emergency tracheostomy, patients with uncorrected coagulopathy, infection or burn at the planned tracheostomy site, distorted neck anatomy such as neck mass, large goiter or previous neck surgery or refusal of consent by patient or legally authorized representative.
