Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Healthy students newly admitted to a health science program without any pre-existing medical or psychiatric conditions.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Students currently practicing any meditation technique, undergoing any treatment for chronic illnesses, diagnosed with mental health disorders, or using medications that may influence cortisol levels or psychological assessments. 2. Students who are regularly consuming any medications or substances for anxiety/stress/mood disturbance (e.g., steroids, stimulants, alcohol, recreational drugs or drinks).

Primary

MeasureTime frame
1.To determine the effect of a structured Transcendental Meditation program on salivary cortisol levels among participants over the study period.Timepoint: 1. Day 0, 30 and 90 for salivary cortisol

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
2. To assess the effect of Transcendental Meditation practice on attention and awareness. 3. To evaluate changes in perceived stress levels following participation in the Transcendental Meditation program. 4. To examine the impact of Transcendental Meditation practice on well-being. 5. To assess changes in positive and negative emotions associated with regular Transcendental Meditation practice. Timepoint: Day 0 Day 30 Day 90
