Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All adult patients aged 18-65 undergoing open abdominal surgery lasting for at least 3h

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: ASA IV Extremes of age Severe cardiorespiratory ailment H/O malignant hyperthermia Allergy to any anesthetic drugs BMI extremes Difficult airway predicted Neuromuscular disorders

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To determine the sevoflurane consumption patterns at different speeds of the AGC verses non AGC to achieve MAC Brain Evaluate time to achieve MAC Brain 0.9 at AGC (4, 6, 8) vs non AGC (Control) speeds Compare haemodynamic (HR, MAP) responses across groups Timepoint: Heart rate and mean arterial pressure will be noted at baseline and every minute after intubation till the time the target sevoflurane is achieved Sevoflurane consumption will be calculated at the end of surgery

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Assessing time to awakening To calculate the cost of the consumed sevoflurane & to determine the carbon footprint of sevoflurane Timepoint: At the end of surgery
