Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients with disc derangement with reduction, Disc derangement without reduction and mayo-fascial pain dysfunction syndrome reporting with pain. 2. Age above 18 years and of either gender. 3. Patients willing to participate in the study and those who are willing to give consent for the same.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patents on pacemaker. 2. Pregnant patients 3. Patients having malignancy or infection in the vicinity of the treatment site . 4. Unco-operative patients. 5. Osteoarthritis 6. Rheumatoid arthritis 7. Ankylosis 8. Allergy to drugs 9. Patients having history of any other treatment one month before continued or discontinued.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
1.To measure the improvement in symptoms of pain using VAS score in temporomandibular joint disorders in patients receiving Phonophoresis and transcutaneous nerve stimulation. 2. To check for improvement in mouth opening using Vernier caliper in patient receiving Phonophoresis and transcutaneous nerve stimulation. 3. Evaluation of clicking in patients receiving Phonophoresis and transcutaneous nerve stimulation. 4. To evaluate the reduction in deflection or deviation on mouth opening in patients receiving Phonophoresis and transcutaneous nerve stimulation. Timepoint: Twice weekly for four weeks and weekly for next two weeks

MeasureTime frame
To compare the improvement in symptoms of pain, mouth opening, clicking, deflection or deviation in both the groups. Timepoint: Twice weekly for four weeks and weekly for next two weeks
