Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients aged between 20 and 45 years. Patients who have agreed to use their pre and post treatment examination and medical records for the study and willing for voluntary participation and have signed the informed consent. Patients with severe periodontitis who have alveolar bone defects with probing pocket depth of 5mm or greater following phase 1 therapy. Radiographic evidence of vertical or angular bone loss. Systemically healthy patients. Motivated patients conscious of oral hygiene.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients showing poor oral hygiene maintenance after phase 1 therapy. Patients with known systemic diseases or metabolic disorders. Patients under any medication known to affect the outcome of periodontal therapy. Patients under any medication that alters bone morphology. Patients using any form of tobacco. Pregnant and lactating women. Patients with any known allergies. Patients who are alcoholics. Patients who had received any surgical periodontal therapy 12 months prior to the start of the study. Patients who had antibiotic therapy 6 months prior to the start of the study.
