Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients clinically diagnosed with OSMF (Grade II to Grade III). 2. Age group between 18 60 years. 3. Patients with a history of areca nut or betel quid chewing. 4. Patients willing to give written informed consent and comply with follow-up visits.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with systemic diseases (e.g., diabetes mellitus, bleeding & clotting disorders). 2. Patients on anticoagulant or steroid therapy. 3. Pregnant or lactating women. 4. Patients with oral malignancy or other mucosal diseases. 5. Patients who had previously undergone treatment for oral submucous fibrosis 6. Patients with temporomandibular joint(TMJ) disorders that can cause trismus or any previous history of trauma to the TMJ.

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Significant improvement in mouth opening and reduction in burning sensation. Better mucosal healing and elasticity compared to steroid therapy. Minimal or no adverse effects. Timepoint: every 2 months till 6th mouth
