Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Subjects with group 18-30 years Subjects with upper trapezius myofascial trigger points who are presenting with acute and subacute neck pain. Both males and females will be included. Acute and subacute stages of neck pain (symptom duration less than 7 days or more than 2 weeks but less than 3 months) Presence of palpable taut band in the upper trapezius in response to 2.5 kg/cm2 of pressure There should be a positive jump sign (local tenderness) At least 1 active trigger point should be present. Tight upper trapezius with restricted range of motion.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: History of shoulder and cervical spine surgery Any previous whiplash injury , vertebral injury , blood disorder, traumatic head injury . Non mechanical causes of neck pain -tumour, skin infection around neck, spinal fractures. Arm radiculogically confirmed cervical herniated disc , myelopathy Use of medications such as anti-inflammatory , analgesics , muscle relaxants , antipsychotic , corticosteriods (oral or injections )for duration the of study as well as 7 to 10 days prior to the study . History of prolonged use of steroids will be excluded . Chronic neck pain lasting more than 3 months . Inflammatory shoulder conditions such as tendinitis, bursitis , capsulitis . Diagnosed Inflammatory rheumatic condition . Any psychological or psychiatric illness . Pregnant females will be excluded . Any non musculoskeletal causes or systemic medical disorder that contraindicate physical exertion or manual therapy
