Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: adult patients aged 18-65 years, of ASA class 1-3, undergoing elective surgery in general surgery and allied surgeries requiring intravenous cannula insertion for their anaesthesia care.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1.inability to consent 2. known coagulopathy 3.mental retardation or inability to understand VAS or 4-point visual analogue scale 4. history of allergy to drugs 5. patients with skin conditions, infections or dermatological disorders
