Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Age greater than or equal to 18 years 2. Hospitalized patients in medical or surgical wards 3. Hemodynamically stable patients 4. Ability to provide informed consent 5. No concurrent investigational monitoring devices

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Recent abdominal surgery ( less than 72 hours ago) 2. Presence of abdominal stoma 3. Pregnancy 4. Extensive abdominal wounds or dressings 5. Altered sensorium or uncooperative patients 6. Patients requiring intensive care or mechanical ventilation 7. Acute bowel obstruction requiring emergency intervention
