Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Confirmed diagnosis of infective keratitis defined by the presence of corneal epithelial or stromal infiltration with associated ocular inflammation, verified clinically by slit lamp examination. 2. Age greater than 5 years (pediatric and adult populations eligible). 3. Presentation within 4-8 weeks of symptom onset, enabling adequate microbiology sampling and microbiological characterization. 4. Residence in the study hospitals catchment area or agreement to attend follow-up visits. 5. Willingness to participate in microbiological sampling, molecular diagnostics, and omics analysis including tear fluid collection like corneal scraping or tear sample or optional blood sample. 6. Control- Normal tear sample will be included as a control group for comparison.

Establishment of the epidemiology of infective keratitis in rural Bihar and development of an integrated AI omics-based diagnostic and prognostic framework using clinical, imaging, microbiological, and molecular data.Timepoint: 0,6,10,12 months

MeasureTime frame
1. Identification of demographic patterns, risk factors, & microbiological spectrum of infective keratitis using conventional culture & molecular sequencing. 2. Discovery of genomic & proteomic biomarkers (virulence markers, antimicrobial resistance, & prognostic signatures) from pathogen isolates & patient samples. 3. Development of a curated multimodal dataset & generation of validated analytical outputs including AI model performance, interim analysis, & publication-ready results.Timepoint: 10,14,16 months
