Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| To compare the efficacy of intravenous pethidine and ketamine in treating post-spinal shivering intraoperatively in the cessation of shivering in patients undergoing lower limb and lower abdominal surgeries.Timepoint: patient monitored after the onset of shivering ,post spinal anesthesia and after giving treatment with one of the group, vitals and grade of shivering noted at 0 min, 5 min , 10 min and later each 10 mins till shivering stops and patient monitored for recurrences of shivering till surgery gets completed and shifted to postoperative care. | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| To assess the time taken to cessation of shivering after administration of each drug.Timepoint: 0 min and 5 mins once till cessation of shivering.;To compare the Differences in reduction in grading of shivering.Timepoint: according to wrench scale, grade of shivering reduced below 2.;To assess the recurrence of shivering after treatment with each drug.Timepoint: patient monitored till the end of surgery for recurrences of shivering.;To evaluate the side effects associated with pethidine and ketamine.Timepoint: side effects are treated accordingly. | — |
