Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Severe AS 2.Baseline sinus rhythm on ECG. 3.Normal LV function 4.Scheduled for surgical AVR. 5.Written informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Persistent or permanent atrial fibrillation/flutter/left bundle branch block/complete heart block or other arrhythmias precluding LA strain measurement. 2.More than mild mitral valve disease/more than mild AR or significant tricuspid/pulmonary valve disease. 3. Prior valve surgery or significant congenital heart disease or atrial septal defect or coarctation of aorta besides isolated AS. 4. Patients with LV dysfunction 5. Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Correlation of LAEF with LA strain and functional indices intraoperatively.Timepoint: 1. Baseline 2. Post Aortic valve replacement

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Perioperative MACE (mortality, MI, stroke, heart failure). Duration of mechanical ventilation. ICU stay length. Vasoactive support requirements. Postoperative atrial fibrillation incidence.Timepoint: Postoperative day 0, Post operative day 1 & postoperative day 2/until discharge from ICU
