Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1.Patients of age between 18 to 65 years age 2.American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I II 3.Scheduled for elective surgeries under general anaesthesia with endotracheal intubation in supine position 4.Patient with body mass index (BMI) 18 -30 kg/ m2
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients with pre existing sore throat or upper respiratory tract infection. 2.Patients with preoperative oral ulcers or pharyngeal mucosal injury or known oral malignancy. 3.Patients with anticipated difficult airway with predictable use of extra tools and attempts for intubation . 4.Patients undergoing oro-pharyngeal surgeries or head and neck surgeries. 5.Pregnant females 6.Patients with acute abdomen or with acute gastrointestinal bleeding 7.Patients undergoing chronic treatment with calcium channel blockers and magnesium Exclusion criteria post recruitment : 1.Patients who swallow the solution while gargling. 2.Patients requiring more than 2 attempts of intubation. 3.Patients with Cormack-Lehane (CL) grading of 2b and above 4.Patients having blood stains on ETT tube post extubation.
