Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. The patient provides informed consent. 2. Patients who are 64 years of age or older are also eligible [8]. 3. Any bone fractures can be treated using any modality, including closed reduction, open reduction, and internal fixation using any type of fixation device. 4. Secondary surgeries are performed to address internal fixation failures or hypertrophic nonunion.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patient who does not give informed consent. 2. Patients below 64 years. 3. Fractures with infection, brain injury, malignancy, systemic diseases, metabolic disorders, or those treated with hormones, steroids, vitamin D, or calcium.

1. To examine the histo-morphometric features (bone cells, collagen fibers, intercellular matrix, and osteoprogenitor cells) of all four phases of fracture healing in elderly individuals. 2. To evaluate the distribution of immune cells, specifically neutrophils, macrophages, and lymphocytes, during all four phases of fracture healing. Timepoint: 1. To examine the histo-morphometric features (bone cells, collagen fibers, intercellular matrix, and osteoprogenitor cells) of all four phases of fracture healing in elderly individuals. 2. To evaluate the distribution of immune cells, specifically neutrophils, macrophages, and lymphocytes, during all four phases of fracture healing. 3. To correlate the immunological, osteogenic, and angiogenic alterations with clinical outcomes, including healing duration, complications (non-union or malunion), and patient demographics.
