Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Individuals who satisfy more than or equal to three of the five criterias described by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) will be diagnosed with metabolic syndrome and included in the study 1)Waist circumference more than or equal to 90 cm in men and more than or equal to80 cm in women 2) Triglycerides more than or equal to 150 mg per dL or undergoing drug therapy for high triglycerides 3)High Density Lipoprotien less than 40 mg per dL in men and less than 50 mg per dL in women or undergoing drug therapy for lowering cholesterol 4)Systolic blood pressure more than or equal to 130 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure more than or equal to 85 mmHg or undergoing antihypertensive treatment for individuals with a history of hypertension 5)Fasting glucose more than or equal to 100 mg per dL or undergoing treatment to control glucose levels

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1)Pregnant females 2)Age less than 18 years 3)Individuals who are under treatment for any thyroid related disorder 4) Acutely ill patients were excluded taking into account sick euthyroid syndrome 5)Patients on oral contraceptive pills and other medications that alter thyroid functions 6)Patients of chronic infectious and inflammatory conditions like tuberculosis sarcoidosis SLE
