Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Clinically diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Of all genders aged between 50-70 years. Non-ventilated and spontaneously breathing. Presenting with chronic sputum production/expectoration. Able to follow the instructions to perform the interventions. Willing to participate in the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Primary diagnosis of asthma, pulmonary tuberculosis. History of brittle bones, broken ribs in past 1 year or severe osteoporosis. Hemoptysis. Open wounds or burns in the thoracic region. Pulmonary embolism, lung abscess, collapsed lungs or a damaged chest wall, recent myocardial infarction, unstable angina, stroke or recent surgery (within 6 months prior to enrollment). With obstructive asthma presenting with minimal or no sputum. Any existing carcinoma.

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Effective sputum induction.Timepoint: Sputum quantity, color and viscosity- day 1 and day 7 at the end of study.
