Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Male participants aged between 20-25 years with minimum four years regular involvement in physical activity or exercise at least five days in a week for two hours each day were assigned as subjects in this study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Individuals with any chronic health conditions, injuries, or medical disorders were not considered in the present study.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Young adults will be positively associated with better executive function performance and higher BDNF. Cortisol may show negative association with both cardiopulmonary fitness and executive functions. GABA may show variable association with executive functions and fitness. The study will demonstrate a favorable neurocognitive and neurochemical profile with better cardiopulmonary fitness, highlighting significant correlations among fitness, brain-related neurochemicals, and executive functioning.Timepoint: Male participants aged between 20-25 years with minimum four years regular involvement in physical activity or exercise at least five days in a week for two hours each day were assigned as subjects in this study.

To examine the associations between cardio-pulmonary fitness, executive function performance, & selected neurochemical variables (BDNF, GABA, & cortisol) in young adults, & to evaluate the potential mediating role of these neurochemical variables in the relationship between cardio-pulmonary fitness & executive functions.Timepoint: Male participants aged between 20-25 years with minimum four years regular involvement in physical activity or exercise at least five days in a week for two hours each day were assigned as subjects in this study.
