Health Condition 1: E119- Type 2 diabetes mellitus without complications

Interventions

Intervention1: Acupuncture: Participants will undergo needling at ST 36 and SP 6 on bilaterally in supine lying for 30 minutes daily for 10 days. Perpendicular needling of about 0.5-1 cun at ST 36 loc

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Confirmed diagnosis of diabetes mellitus type 2 (i.e., HbA1c greater than or equal to 6.5 %) and on diabetes medication for past 3 months, no prior acupuncture treatment for past one month and participants who are willing to give their consent will be included

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Participants with open wounds, burns or scalds in those specified acupoint areas, who were taking glucocorticoids or insulin, intoxicating themself by taking alcohol or psychotropic medication during the study period will be excluded and who have diabetic complications (i.e Diabetic neuropathy, retinopathy, ketosis, etc.,), psychiatric illnesses other than mild depression, pregnant or breast-feeding women, participation in other clinical studies and who were having phobia for acupuncture needle.
