Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients of either sex presenting with acute coronary syndrome requiring emergency coronary angiography via radial artery access; able to provide informed consent (or legally authorized representative where permitted)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patient refusal; known allergy or intolerance to local anaesthetics; infection at planned cannulation site; occlusion of ipsilateral ulnar artery; more than three prior attempts for cannulation; hemodynamically unstable patients
