Interventions

Intervention1: intranasal lignocaine spray of 10 percent: Patient supine with head maximally extended as in sniffing position will be given 10 percent lignocaine spray in a postero-superior direction

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: dianosis of trigeminal neuralgia having unilateral pain in predominant V2 or V3 distribution

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Allergy to amide local anaesthetics. Nasal pathology precluding spray application like polyps, severe septal deviation, infection. Cardiac conduction abnormalities or severe hepatic impairment. Pregnancy or lactation. Mixed V2 and V3 distribution SPG block within past 4 weeks

Change in Numerical Rating Scale (NRS 0 10) from baseline to 24 hrs post-block.Timepoint: from baseline to 24 hrs post-block.

NRS at 30 minutes, 1, 2 and 24 hours proportion achieving more than 50 percent reduction at 24 hours requirement for repeat spray or rescue analgesics. adverse events like nasal irritation or dizzinessTimepoint: 30 minutes, 1, 2 and 24 hours
