Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Diagnosis of traumatic brachial plexus injury confirmed by clinical examination, Electrodiagnostic and imaging studies. 2. Indication for surgical intervention based on the absence of spontaneous recovery after three months post-injury. 3. Ability to provide informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Mentally unstable patient. 2. Patients of brachial plexus injury presenting more than 12 months after injury. 3. Associated severe neurological conditions or systemic diseases that may affect recovery 4. Inability to comply with follow-up assessments.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Shoulder function assessed using: Medical Research Council (MRC) grading for shoulder abduction Quantitative measurement of active shoulder abduction (in degrees)Timepoint: Baseline (pre-operative) 3 months post-operatively 6 months post-operatively 9 months post-operatively The primary endpoint for final comparison between groups will be at 9 months post-surgery.

1 Functional outcomes measured by the Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder & Hand (Quick DASH) score at three, six-, & nine-months post-surgery . 2 WHOQOL BREF Score for assessment of quality of life After brachial plexus injury . Timepoint: Baseline (pre-operative) 3 months post-operatively 6 months post-operatively 9 months post-operatively Final comparative analysis between the two groups will be performed at 9 months post-surgery, with interim trend analysis at earlier follow-up visits.
