Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients aged 40 to 80 years. Patients diagnosed with primary osteoarthritis requiring TKA. American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status one to three. Preoperative Hemoglobin HB more than 9 g per dL. Patients with Normal Coagulation profile. Ambulatory patients Pre operatively

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients undergoing Revision or Bilateral TKA. Patients with Bleeding disorders. History of thromboembolic events. Patients with Renal or Hepatic impairment

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To compare postoperative blood loss between IA and IV TXA groups.Timepoint: At baseline and 24 to 48 hours post surgery.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate the need for transfusions & Drop in Hemoglobin & to observe any adverse effects (DVT, wound complications) Timepoint: during hospital stay & until discharge.
