Intervention1: Er:YAG laser: Er:YAG laser of 2940nm wavelength will be used for ablating the gingival overgrowth for 25-30min (for three teeth) once in patients undergoing orthodontic therapy. Control

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Moderate to severe gingival overgrowth requiring gingivectomy 2. Plaque index less than one indicating fair oral hygiene 3. Good general health without abnormal systemic conditions

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Use of any medications which induce gingival overgrowth 2. Smokers or tobacco users 3. Patients with active periodontal diseases 4. History of laser treatment on gingival tissues 5. Pregnant or lactating women
