Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. ASA 1 and 2 patients 2. Patients in whom the use of a polyvinyl chloride orotracheal tube is exclusively indicated

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients refusing to give consent 2.Obstetric cases 3.Paediatric cases 4.Patients with difficult intubation 5.Anatomical airway defects such as swelling or deformities in the oral, pharyngeal, laryngeal region 6.Pulmonary problems 7.Neck and/or chest distortion 8.Patients at risk for pulmonary aspiration of gastric content 9.Obese patients of BMI > 40 in whom vertebral column length is difficult to assess.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
1.Optimal Endotracheal Tube (ETT) Insertion Depth 2. Measured from the right angle of the mouth to the ETT tip, Confirmed using fibre-optic bronchoscopy 3. Correlated with patient anthropometric measurements (height, arm span, vertebral column length, BMI) Timepoint: 1. ETT Insertion Depth, measurement from the right angle of the mouth to the ETT tip, confirming using fibre-optic bronchoscopy, measurement of patients anthropometric measurement will be done immediately i.e at the time of data collection. 2. Correlation of data will be done after complete data collection - 8 weeks

MeasureTime frame
1. Correlation of Airway Length ( including - Vocal cord to carina, Vocal cord to right angle of mouth, Carina to right angle of mouth) with patient Parameters such as arm span, vertebral column length, weight & BMI 2. To create a regression formula based on anthropometric parameters to estimate optimal ett length 3. To look out for intraoperatie complications related to ett misplacement such as destaturation, tachycardia, hypertension, bronchospasmTimepoint: 1. Correlation of collected data will be done after 8 weeks 2. Regression formula creation 16 weeks 3. Intra operative complications will noted during the data collection
