Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Knee Osteoarthritis: Participants diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis of Kellgren Lawrence grade 1 to 3 will be included. They must be able to walk independently for at least 10 minutes and should have no history of knee surgery or lower limb fractures. Healthy Controls: Healthy adults aged 40 years or older with no history of knee pain or injury will be included. They should have no previous diagnosis of knee osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or any other chronic joint disease. Participants must have no history of lower limb fracture, surgery, or significant trauma affecting the hip, knee, ankle, or foot. They should report no current pain, swelling, or functional limitation in the lower limbs, have no clinically evident varus or valgus deformity or rotational abnormality, and must be able to walk independently without the use of assistive devices.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Knee Osteoarthritis: Participants with a history of total knee replacement surgery will be excluded. Individuals with neurological conditions affecting lower limb function, such as stroke or Parkinson s disease, will also be excluded. Those presenting with severe lower limb deformities, defined as varus alignment greater than 15 or valgus alignment greater than 15 , will not be included. Healthy Controls: Individuals with a previous or current diagnosis of knee osteoarthritis, inflammatory arthritis, or any other chronic joint pathology will be excluded. Participants with any history of trauma or surgery involving the hip, knee, ankle, or foot that could influence lower limb alignment or function will not be included. Those reporting pain, injury, or any condition affecting the lower limbs within the past six months will be excluded. Individuals with neurological conditions affecting balance, coordination, or muscle function, such as stroke, neuropathy, or Parkinson s disease, will be excluded. Participants with congenital or acquired lower limb deformities, including clubfoot, significant flatfoot, or high-arched foot, will not be included. Additionally, individuals with systemic illnesses that may affect musculoskeletal health, such as uncontrolled diabetes or severe cardiovascular disease, will be excluded.
