Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients willing to sign informed consent.Male or female patients between 18to60 years of age.Patients belonging to American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical statusI andII.Patients posted for elective surgeries under general anaesthesia.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients unwilling to participate in the study. Patients with Body Mass Index more than or equal to 30. Patients with history of muscular disorder,myositis,or any local infection. Bradycardia HR less then 70bpm. Patients with cardiovascular diseases,arrhythmias,heartblocks, or taking beta-blockers.Patients with cerebrovascular, hepatic and renal diseases. Psychiatric patients. Patients with history of allergy to an alpha 2 adrenergic agonist. Pregnancy & lactating women.

MeasureTime frame
This prospective and observational study will help us to compare the efficacy between iv bolus and iv infusion of esmolol in attenuating hemodynamic responses to laryngoscopy and endotracheal intubation in patients undergoing surgeries under general anaesthesia.Timepoint: 0 to 20minutes

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To observe any kind of side effects or adverse effects intraoperatively after giving bolus dose or infusion of esmolol.Timepoint: 0 to 20 minutes
