Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) patients with good systemic health (free from hypertension,stroke,poorly controlled daibetes ,etc.) (2) patients with periodontal pocket depth greater than 5 mm . (3) Age group of 25-60 years (irrespective of gender).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) Use of antimicrobial therapy systemically 2 months before entering the study; (2) Known allergy to chitosan or metronidazole; (3) Periodontal surgeries in the past 6 months (4) Habit of smoking (5) Pregnant and Lactating women

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Reduction in Pocket depth, measured through clinical assessmentTimepoint: Baseline , 1 week ,1 month , 3 months.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Change in plaque index, gingival index, relative attachment level and probeable probing depth assessment of safety and adverse events at weeks/months post-treatment. Timepoint: Baseline , 1 week ,1 month , 3 months.
