Interventions

Intervention1: compare the effect of Magnesium Sulfate Soaked Throat Packs versus Intravenous Magnesium Sulfate for Preventing Postoperative Sore Throat after Elective Nasal Surgery.: In the operation
Group I received IV magnesium sulphate with a normal saline soaked throat pack
and Group P received normal saline both topically and intravenously.: Randomisation will be done using computer generated random numbers for allocation of patients into three groups- T, I and P. Group

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adults (18-65 years) Scheduled for elective nasal surgery under general anaesthesia requiring placement of endotracheal tube and throat pack (Septoplasty, Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, Septorhinoplasty), Duration of surgery between 60 to 180 minutes

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: History of recent upper respiratory tract infection or sore throat Anticipated difficult airway Patients who require more than one attempt at endotracheal intubation Traumatic intubation Preoperative use of analgesic medications (Paracetamol/NSAIDs/Opioids) within 24 hours of surgery Previous H/O any laryngotracheal disease Known allergy to study drug
