Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Patient belonging to either sex between 3 to 10 years will be considered for study. 2.Signs and Symptoms Cardinal signs and symptoms of mild to moderate Protein energy malnutrition according to modern and ayurvedic texts. 3.According to Indian Academy of Pediatrics Protein energy malnutrition Grade1 (71 to 80 percent of weight for age)and Grade 2 (61 to 70 percent of weight for age).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.A severe form of malnutrition ,marasmus, kwashiorkor, malnutrition with complications. 2.The patients with Known case of Tuberculosis or other infectious diseases. 3.Endocrine disturbance is like Hypothyroidism. 4.Congenital and hereditary problems . 5.Malignancies 6.Liver disorder like Hepatitis Indian childhood Cirrhosis.

To Evaluate the efficacy of Ayurvedic Balya Granules twice a day with milk in the age group 3-10 years for 45 days on weight in Karshya with special reference to PEM.Timepoint: 15th Day (Baseline Assessment), 45th Day (Final Assessment)

MeasureTime frame
1.To evaluate the weight gain during the intervention period in Protein energy malnutrition. 2.To assess any adverse reaction or side effect related to the oral administration of Ayurvedic Balya Granules. 3.To introduce effective ayurvedic medicine for Protein energy malnutrition.Timepoint: On 15th Day , On 30th Day , On 45th Day
