Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) Patients undergoing total thyroidectomy

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Previous thyroid surgery or irradiation 2) Coexisting parathyroid disease and/or concomitant or prior parathyroidectomy 3) Pre-operative hypocalcemia (less than 8.6 mg/dl) 4) Undergoing concomitant neck dissection

To evaluate whether early serum corrected calcium levels and it s rate of decline independently predict post thyroidectomy hypocalcemiaTimepoint: 6 hour post total thyroidectomy surgery, 24 hour post total thyroidectomy surgery

To assess postoperative hypocalcemia in patients undergoing total thyroidectomy & factors affecting it- Age, Sex, Pathology of thyroid diseases, Clinical diagnosis, Ultrasound findings Timepoint: 24 hours post total thyroidectomy surgery;To assess if rate of drop in serum corrected calcium can predict permanent hypocalcemiaTimepoint: 6 hour post total thyroidectomy surgery, 24 post total thyroidectomy surgery, 6 month post total thyroidectomy surgery
