Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adult female patients aged between 18-65 years with ASA(American Society of Anaesthesiologists) grade between I-III who are posted for elective modified radical mastectomy under general anaesthesia are included.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: The patients with the following preoperative conditions will be excluded from the study: 1. Contraindication to nerve block(coagulopathies/on anticoagulants/ local site infection) 2. Patients who will be known cases of CKD, and COPD. 3. Pregnancy 4. Patients with spinal anomalies. 5. Drug allergy. 6. Patients who have cognitive disability and are unable to understand the NRS score.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To compare the post-operative analgesic efficacy of ultrasound guided erector spinae block with intraoperative intravenous morphine followed by local anaesthetic infiltration at the incision site in patients undergoing modified radical mastectomy using Numerical Rating Scale(NRS) at 4 hours.Timepoint: 4 hours.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1. To compare the amount of additional analgesia required over 24 hours in both groups. 2. To compare postoperative analgesia duration(time to first rescue analgesia) in first 24 hours in both groups.Timepoint: 24 hours
