Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients aged more than 18 years admitted to the Intensive Care Unit Patients diagnosed with sepsis severe sepsis or septic shock based on Sepsis 3 criteria suspected or documented infection plus organ dysfunction with SOFA score more than 2 Patients who are admitted to the ICU within 24 hours of sepsis diagnosis Patients or legally authorised representatives who provide informed consent
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Patients with pre-existing disorders of calcium metabolism, such as: Known case of Hyperparathyroidism or hypoparathyroidism Known case of Chronic kidney disease on dialysis Known vitamin D deficiency or excess Patients receiving calcium supplementation or vitamin D therapy within the last 2 weeks Patients with known malignancy involving bone or parathyroid tumors Patients with a history of chronic liver disease or hepatic failure Patients who are post-cardiac arrest or have received CPR within the past 24 hours Pregnant or lactating women Patients with incomplete medical records or those who are discharged or deceased before serum calcium estimation
