Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1)Patients aged more than 18 years of age 2)Patients diagnosed with Stage III & Stage IV periodontitis having a minimum of 15 natural teeth present and at least four teeth with one or more sites with probing pocket depth (PPD) greater than or equal to 5 mm clinical attachment level (CAL) greater than or equal to 4 mm and bleeding on probing (BOP) 3)Patients showing willingness to participate and undergo periodontal examination anthropological measurements and blood sampling were included

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Pregnant and lactating women patients 2)Patients with Diabetes Mellitus or known cases of any other systemic disease 3)Patients who had undergone any dental treatment within the past 6 months 4)Patients on lipid lowering therapy using immunosuppressant non-steroid anti inflammatory drugs and antibiotics within the past 3 months 5)Patients with less than 10 teeth remaining in the mouth 6)Patients who are heavy smokers (greter than 20 cigarettes per day)

1. To evaluate Plaque index, sulcular bleeding index, probing depth and clinical attachment level. 2. To assess TyG index consisting of levels of serum triglyceride (TG) and fasting plasma glucose. 3. To assess obesity indices like BMI, waist circumference (WC), waist to hip ratio (WHR), waist to height ratio (WHtR), and weight adjusted waist index (WWI). Timepoint: Baseline
