Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with nasal masses of any etiology inflammatory, infectious, benign neoplastic, or malignant. Patients who consented to participate in the study and undergo diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Newly diagnosed cases attending the ENT outpatient department or admitted to the hospital during the study period. Patients fit for surgery or biopsy, allowing histopathological diagnosis.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with recurrent nasal masses previously treated elsewhere (to avoid bias in primary diagnosis). Patients with systemic diseases contraindicating surgical intervention (e.g., uncontrolled diabetes, coagulopathy). Patients unwilling or unable to provide informed consent. Patients with incomplete clinical or histopathological data or those lost to follow-up before completion of evaluation and management. Masses of non-nasal origin extending into the nasal cavity e.g., from orbit or cranial cavity

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The study is expected to identify the most common types of nasal masses such as inflammatory polyps, benign tumors e.g., inverted papilloma, and malignant lesions e.g., squamous cell carcinoma in the Salem region. It aims to establish demographic patterns, clinical presentations, and histopathological correlations. It will also evaluate the effectiveness of various diagnostic tools and management strategies, particularly the role of endoscopic sinus surgery, to guide early diagnosis and optimal treatment planning in a tertiary care setting. Timepoint: At the time of presentation to OPD

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
It will also evaluate the effectiveness of various diagnostic tools and management strategies, particularly the role of endoscopic sinus surgery, to guide early diagnosis and optimal treatment planning in a tertiary care setting. Timepoint: At the time of post operative follow up
