Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Classified as ASA physical status I and II 2.Elective and Emergency lower caeserean section surgeries under spinal anaesthesia. 3.Gestational age of 32 to 40 weeks 4.Singleton pregnancy

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients undergoing labor 2.Pre eclampsia patient 3.Pregnancy with congenital anomaly 4.Abruption placentae or placenta previa 5.Patients with significant cardiovascular, hepatic, renal or respiratory diseases

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The incidence of hypotension after spinal anaesthesia will be significantly higher in the normotensive group than in the hypertensive group. Timepoint: Blood pressure and heart rate will be recorded at the baseline( before spinal anaesthesia), at 2min, 5min, 10min, and 15 minutes after spinal anaesthesia, and at the completion of surgery in women undergoing caesarean delivery at 36 40 weeks of pregnancy.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
A higher proportion of neonates born to hypertensive mothers will have 1 minute APGAR scores less than 7, but there will be no significant difference in 5 minute APGAR scores between groups. Timepoint: Neonatal APGAR score will be assessed at 1 minute & 5 minutes immediately after delivery in pregnancies between 36-40 weeks of gestation
