Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1 Patients giving informed valid and written consent 2 Patients undergoing elective surgeries under general anaesthesia 3 Patients belonging to ASA physical status 1 and 2

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1 Patients with anatomical abnormalities or diseases in the neck upper airway pharynx or oesophagus history of neck or oesophageal surgery 2 Patients with an increased risk of aspiration of gastric contents 3 Patients with known or predicted difficult airway such as Modified Mallampati score 3 or 4 thyromental distance less than 65 mm interincisor gap less than 35 mm limited neck motion Body mass index more than 35 kg per metre square and Neck circumference more than 40 cm

To Compare the effect of cricoid, paralaryngeal, and Paratracheal pressure, respectively, on the outer anteroposterior diameter of the upper oesophagus using an ultrasound probe in patients undergoing elective surgeries during induction of general anaesthesia. Timepoint: Right after 3 minutes of administration of vecuronium

To identify the location of the oesophagus entrance relative to the glottis & the location of the oesophagus relative to the trachea in an anesthetized, paralyzed state and during direct laryngoscopy To compare the POGO score during direct laryngoscopy with or without cricoid, paralaryngeal, and paratracheal pressureTimepoint: 3 mins after vecuronium before laryngoscopy for identifying location of oesophagus. During direct laryngoscopy ( first attempt ) for POGO score
